Tasty and healthy options 24/7 – what more could you ask for? Neither my husband nor I work a normal 9-5, so finding healthy dine-out options can be challenging at odd hours.
On our visit to Denny’s, we were greeted by a friendly staff making us feel at home, and the coffee came quickly! Denny’s now has tablets at the table which make ordering and paying your check a breeze, but you can still order and pay the old fashioned way too. It’s great to know that I can pull up my check and pay at the table quickly if I’m in a hurry. The tablets also offer games for kids and adults- a great addition to a family restaurant. The tablet is fixed to the end of the table making it easy to access, but it never felt in the way.
We were surprised at how many healthy options were available on the menu, as well as healthy substitutions at no additional cost. Whether we were in the mood for a healthy omelette, a stack of banana pecan pancakes, or grilled chicken and veggies, Denny’s had us covered.
We were both in the mood for eggs the day of our visit, so here’s what we ordered:
Fit Fare® Loaded Veggie Omelette
I ordered the Fit Fare® Loaded Veggie Omelette and was glad I was sharing some of it with my husband because it won’t leave you hungry for more. A large egg white omelette with fresh spinach, mushrooms, sautéed zucchini and squash, diced tomatoes and melted Swiss cheese came to the table with a side of seasonal fruit and an English muffin. This was the perfect balance of food groups to start my day filling me up without loading me down. It was a very tasty vegetarian option too!
Fit Slam
My husband ordered the Fit Slam, and it was easily one of the healthiest menu options that Denny’s has to offer. The colorful dish includes egg whites scrambled together with fresh spinach and grape tomatoes, plus two turkey bacon strips, a plain English muffin and seasonal fruit, packing in lots of delicious flavors in one menu item! Most breakfast plates don’t come with such a diverse blend of fruits and vegetables to start your day, but this one does. He loved that he could order an egg white dish at a restaurant without having to ask for a substitution.
Both selections are high in fiber, low in saturated fat, and great sources of lean protein and complex carbohydrates. We both added avocado to our dish for extra healthy fats, fiber and flavor.
